Consulting and Design for Walkable Communities |

The Founder |
|
As a civil engineer and a registered architect, Tony Sease brings an interdisciplinary perspective and unique expertise to the planning and design of sustainable communities. He has worked on scores of New Urbanism design charrettes and projects around the country and internationally. Advising on integrated infrastructure solutions, urban design, transportation and street design, and civic infrastructure, Tony is dedicated to creating compact, complete and connected communities. In essence a translator between various disciplines, Tony formally participates as a designer, planner, facilitator, architect, and engineering consultant, throughout the planning and implementation process. He has collaborated extensively with renowned leaders in planning and design, including Andres Duany, William McDonough and Randall Arendt. Further supporting the interdisciplinary nature of placemaking for sustainable communities, Tony is an appointed member of the Location and Planning Technical Advisory Group of the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) for LEED™. In the 2009-2010 academic year he taught graduate-level courses in sustainable cities and urban design at the Department of City and Regional Planning at UNC-Chapel Hill, and at the Nicholas School of the Environment at Duke University. Tony was a Knight Fellow in Community Building at the University of Miami in 2005, and is also certified by the National Charrette Institute. Whether the task is infill redevelopment, neighborhood visioning, regional planning, or new town planning, Sease is typically involved as a team participant in the initial stages of planning and through the charrette process, and continues to work closely with others following the charrette and especially in the initial phases of detailed design, review and implementation. He works very closely with clients, engineers, planners, architects, and city representatives, as well as review agencies throughout planning, design, review and approvals, and implementation. Given the nature of neighborhood planning and urban design, this work often includes contributions over many years, revisiting neighborhoods and clients as projects evolve, needs change, and new opportunities arise. Civitech has been fortunate to be involved with many long-term clients, both public sector and private sector, who enlist our services on a continuing basis for both new projects, as well as continued consultation with ongoing development or redevelopment. Our value to the process and to the projects is confirmed by our many repeat clients. |
